Our Mission

The Home and School Association (HSA) is the parent association of the Merritt Memorial School (MMS).

The mission of the MMS HSA is to:

  • Promote communication between the home and school

  • Enhance the curriculum wherever possible in concert with the teachers and administration

  • Promote the welfare of the children

  • Bring into a closer relationship the home and school, so that the parents or guardians and teachers may cooperate intelligently and effectively in the education of each child.

What do we do?

  • We support MMS teachers and their programs through volunteer efforts in the classroom, lunchroom, library, and through our Teacher Enrichment Grant Program.

  • We enhance the curriculum by sponsoring programs such as: Assemblies, Author Visits, Classroom Enhancements, Field Trips, Child Safety and After School Programs.

  • We sponsor special events for students and their families throughout the year such as: the Fall Picnic, Fall & Spring Book Fairs, Halloween Party, VIP Day, International Day, Earth Day, and Mustang Field Day.

  • We provide and manage the school lunch program.

  • We provide high school scholarships for graduating MMS students.

How do we do it?

  • We fundraise with Student Directory sales, Scholastic Book Fairs, Coupon Book sales, Art for Kids sales, as well as mini-fundraisers throughout the year.

  • We raise money through the lunch program that we organize, manage, and serve each day.

  • We host an annual Spring Celebration GALA dinner party and auction that raise monies to support a significant and primary school need.

  • Dedicated Parent Volunteers are the key to the success of the HSA. They make everything happen and drive all of the success of the HSA.
